Job Title: Bookkeeper (Architectural/Engineering Firm, BQE Core)

Location: Tustin, CA

Pay: $30-$40/Hour

Job Summary:

Our client is seeking a skilled Part-Time Bookkeeper with proven experience in the architectural or engineering (A&E) industry to manage their financial records and ensure accurate and timely reporting. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of project-based accounting principles and demonstrate proficiency in using BQE Core for bookkeeping tasks. This is a long-term contract position. This role requires a proactive individual who can work independently, manage multiple tasks, and contribute to the overall financial health of the firm. This is a part-time position, typically requiring approximately two days per week, with typically an increased commitment of three days during month-end closing.

Responsibilities:

• Financial Management:
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and bank reconciliations.
  • Process invoices, payments, and expense reports with precision.
  • Prepare and analyze financial reports, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closings.
  • Manage payroll processing and related tax filings.
• Project Accounting (A&E Specific):
  • Track project costs, budgets, and billings using BQE Core for relevant bookkeeping functions , including invoicing, financial reporting, and data entry.
  • Generate project-specific financial reports and provide insights to project managers.
  • Ensure accurate and timely client invoicing based on project milestones and deliverables.
  • Monitor project profitability and identify potential cost overruns.
  • Understand and manage certified payroll.
• Compliance and Reporting:
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards and regulations.
  • Prepare and submit sales tax returns and other required filings.
  • Assist with audits and provide necessary documentation.

Qualifications:

• Bookkeeping experience preferably within the architectural or engineering industry.
• Proven experience using BQE Core for bookkeeping tasks is essential.
• Strong understanding of project-based accounting principles.
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Understanding of certified payroll is highly desired.
