Job Description

Are you passionate about helping individuals achieve their career goals and secure sustainable employment? Join our team at John Boner Neighborhood Centers as a Career Coach, where you'll lead the employment component of the Center for Working Families (CWF) initiative. This dynamic role involves connecting individuals with education, employment, and skills training opportunities, as well as identifying employers willing to hire people from our target neighborhoods. If you're ready to make a meaningful impact on the lives of our community members, we want to hear from you!

A Day in the Life:

As a Career Coach, your day will be a blend of program implementation, data management, and community integration. You’ll start by coordinating access to educational services and training, providing job and career coaching, and offering job retention services. You’ll advocate for hard-to-employ residents, such as those with disabilities or criminal records, and oversee the Job Search Resource Area to assist with web-based job searches. Organizing job fairs and providing soft skills/professional development training will be key parts of your role. You'll work closely with employers to identify specific skills they need, developing processes for employment customers to acquire these skills, and maintaining ongoing communication with these employers. Additionally, you'll interface with neighborhood service providers, ensuring excellent customer service for employment customers and partner organizations. Your work will be data-driven, as you manage and report on customer data, ensuring all program benchmarks and targets are met.

You Would Thrive in This Position If:

- You have 2-3 years of experience in workforce development, business-to-business services, and customer care, with a focus on employer outreach and service to disadvantaged populations.

- You possess excellent knowledge of the local business environment in Indianapolis-Marion County.

- You understand the needs of a low-income working population and have a passion for making a difference.

- You have significant overall professional experience (five years or more)

- You have exceptional social/interpersonal skills and writing ability to meet communication and reporting requirements.

- You are well-organized, self-directed, and capable of managing multiple tasks efficiently.

- You have reliable transportation, as this position requires regular local travel.

- The ability to speak Spanish is preferred but not required.

Join our cross-functional team to provide comprehensive services to families enrolled in Financial Foundations’ programs. You’ll share information, participate in team meetings, and help track and report progress and outcomes related to the CWF Initiative. By working with department directors and other staff, you’ll use research-based and data-driven strategies to develop programming that meets the needs of our participants. You'll identify growing employment sectors and potential employers, develop relationships with businesses, and coordinate career pathways and training programs for customers in high-demand industries offering sustainable wages and benefits.

This is your opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of individuals in our community by helping them achieve their career aspirations and secure meaningful employment. Apply today to become a Career Coach at John Boner Neighborhood Centers!
