Key Responsibilities
Supervision and Oversight:
Supervise up to five (5) inmates during maintenance activities ensuring compliance with correctional facility protocols and safety standards.
Act as a role model and enforce discipline while promoting teamwork and responsibility among the inmate team.
Advanced Maintenance Tasks:
Perform and oversee advanced maintenance operations including troubleshooting and repairing equipment machinery and infrastructure.
Provide technical expertise to the inmate team and assist in skill development under supervision.
Safety and Compliance:
Monitor and enforce adherence to safety protocols including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Ensure all maintenance activities align with correctional policies and legal standards.
Operational Management:
Plan delegate and oversee daily maintenance operations to meet facility goals and deadlines.
Drive and operate commercial vehicles with air brakes as required for maintenance tasks.
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities equipment usage and inmate performance.
Communication and Coordination:
Communicate effectively with inmates staff and management through approved channels.
Serve as the primary point of contact during maintenance operations and represent the department professionally.
Professionalism and Representation:
Wear a uniform identifying your supervisory role and adhere to correctional standards at all times.
Qualifications :
Certification and Experience:
Mandatory:
Certified as a statecertified correction officer.
Advanced Level Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) certification.
Experience:
Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a correction officer.
At least one (1) year of experience operating a commercial vehicle.
Licensing:
Valid Class B Drivers License with air brake endorsement.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to perform physically demanding tasks including lifting prolonged standing and working in various environmental conditions.
Skills and Attributes:
Strong leadership and supervisory skills to manage teams effectively in a correctional setting.
Advanced knowledge of maintenance practices tools and machinery.
High level of organization and timemanagement skills to prioritize and oversee multiple tasks.
Excellent communication skills to interact with inmates staff and management.
Professionalism and strict adherence to safety and correctional facility standards.
