Job Description

LSG is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Construction Inspector to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting field inspections, coordinating with contractors and project teams, enforcing project specifications, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations. This role requires strong technical knowledge, organizational skills, and the ability to work independently in a dynamic construction environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct field inspections and observations for the above noted project, which may include, but are not limited to: traffic control, erosion control, clearing and grubbing, removal of Portland cement concrete pavement (PCCP), asphalt concrete pavement (ACP), permeable base course, cement treated base (CTB), cement treated subgrade (CTS), excavation and embankment work including unclassified excavation, embankment, upper and lower select subgrade placement, subgrade preparation, rock excavation, cement treated soil base course and cement treated aggregate base course placement, CDOT class 6 roadway base placement, cement treated permeable base course (CTPB) placement, hot mix asphalt (HMA) and Portland cement concrete pavement placement, storm sewer, culvert, and underdrains including manholes, catch basins, inlets etc., seeding, topsoiling, and mulching, underground electrical duct banks, airport lighting systems, apron lighting systems, apron WIFI and lightning alert systems.
  • Coordinate inspection services with contractors and other agencies; communicate and confer with representatives of utility companies, contractors, public agencies, and the public as necessary.
  • Coordinate with the Project Management Team (PMT) and the Contractors project management team as necessary regarding daily schedules including people, equipment, materials, subcontractors, suppliers, etc.
  • Prepare daily reports related to crews, progress, issues, and detailed findings of inspections, observations, and test results.
  • Review plans and specifications.
  • Monitor the work of contractors.
  • Document any delays and/or changes to scope of work.
  • Enforce project specifications and verify contractor compliance with codes, regulations, site materials, design plans, specifications, alterations, repairs, improvements, and safety.
  • May perform quantity tracking (including calculations) and cost coding for purposes of productivity analysis and accurate job cost forecasting.
  • Comply with safety policies and OSHA safety standards.
  • Monitor and observe material testing.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to comply with safety policies and practice of assigned project site, airline policies, contractor’s Constructors policies and OSHA safety standards.
  • Microsoft Office Suite with proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to produce well written technical reports and regulatory compliance documents.
  • Knowledge of construction safety and current OSHA requirements.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of construction methods, material testing, specifications, and equipment.
  • Knowledge of construction engineering practices, basic survey practices, and basic design standards for construction projects.
  • Proficiency with computer software.
  • Ability to inspect routine and difficult projects for compliance with plans and specifications.
  • Ability to accurately read and interpret engineering plans and specifications.
  • Ability to make accurate mathematical calculations.
