Job Summary The Department of Psychology at East Tennessee State University seeks an outstanding scholar and administrator to be hired at the rank of Associate or Full Professor (with tenure) for the position of Department Chair, to begin July 2025. The ideal candidate will promote excellence in scholarship, teaching, and service, enhance undergraduate teaching and graduate training programs, increase the visibility of an active faculty, and foster productive collaborations within and beyond the department. The department is home to 16 tenure-track or tenured faculty members, 3 additional staff members, and over 40 graduate students. The department offers doctoral programs in both Clinical and Experimental Psychology. The mission of our APA-accredited Clinical Psychology doctoral program is to provide training for rural behavioral health and practice in the context of integrated primary health care. Our Experimental Psychology doctoral program's mission is to provide students with broad training in translational research in the psychological sciences, including developmental, cognitive, social psychology, and behavioral neuroscience. Our doctoral students go on to successful careers in teaching, research, and clinical service delivery, with many electing to work in underserved areas. To learn more about the department, visit . Department Chairs in the College have 12 (rather than 9) month appointments. Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree in Psychology and a proven record of scholarship and teaching appropriate for a tenured position at the Associate or Full Professor level. They should have experience with the supervision of a Clinical training program and/or the APA accreditation process, and the ability to build consensus and support strategic change. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required Qualifications - A Ph.D. degree in Psychology and
- A proven record of scholarship and teaching appropriate for a tenured position at the Associate or Full Professor level.
- Successful applicants will demonstrate a record of effective leadership, strong communication skills, and experience with budget management, resource allocation, and strategic planning.
Preferred Qualifications - Experience mentoring students and faculty in research and teaching,
- A record of success in obtaining and/or supporting extramural funding, and
- Full Professor qualified applicants.
