Job Description

DESCRIPTION

The Global Corporate Employee Relations (GCER) team at Amazon is seeking an Employee Relations Manager to support the Amazon Web Services Sales, Marketing and Global Support (AWS, SMGS) teams. The position requires an individual who has significant employee relations experience, deep subject matter expertise, and strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills. These competencies will enable the individual to work both independently to successfully manage a broad spectrum of ER issues and with employees and partners across Amazon’s wide geographic and cultural scope.

The central objective of the Global Corporate Employee Relations at Amazon team is to ensure our organization’s treatment of every employee is fair, respectful, and consistent with our core business values, policies and objectives as we Strive to be Earth’s Best Employer. To support that mission, this position’s responsibilities fall into proactive and reactive categories. Reactive responsibilities include leading the response to critical ER/LR issues, both individually and/or through a team. These matters are highly sensitive and typically must be successfully completed with limited time, such as conducting workplace investigations and advising on challenging employee situations. The Employee Relations Manager – AWS, SMGS will also lead crisis-oriented responses, including de-escalating and resolving workplace issues and managing ER/LR escalations from senior business leadership, PXT, and/or legal stakeholders. When questions or concerns arise either 1/within the LR space or 2/in ER/LR matters outside of North America, the Manager works closely with their ER and LR peers to gather subject matter expertise, compile data and insights, and swiftly partner to provide strategy, guidance, and support to PXT leadership and the business.

The position reports to the Director, Global Corporate Employee Relations, AWS, SMGS and can be based in Arlington, Virginia or Seattle, Washington. This is a full-time position that could require significant travel, up to ~30% of the time over the course of the year.

• Designing mechanisms to collect and analyze multiple levels of employee feedback and insights

• Working directly with employees at all levels to identify, address and resolve concerns through conflict resolution and one-on-one coaching
• Designing and conducting positive employee relations trainings and other capability building initiatives

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• Seven (7) years direct experience in employee relations, human resources or employment/labor law with an emphasis on employee relations work
• Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree, law degree, or other specialized training in labor/employee relations a significant plus
