Job Summary:

An Experienced Cook at Black Desert Resort is integral to delivering a high-quality dining experience for our guests. This position reports to the Sous Chef or Executive Chef and is responsible for preparing and cooking a variety of dishes to the highest standards. The Experienced Cook ensures all food is prepared efficiently, meeting our quality, safety, and presentation standards, and may mentor less experienced kitchen staff.

Job Specification:

Location: Onsite at Black Desert Resort

Shift & Schedule: Year-Round / Full Time / Weekends / Holidays

Pay Range: $19.00 - $25.00 / hour. This is the pay range we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.

Job Responsibilities but not limited to:

  • Prepare and cook a variety of dishes to the highest standards, following recipes and guidelines set by the culinary team.
  • Ensure all food is cooked and presented in a timely manner, maintaining quality and consistency.
  • Assist with menu planning and development, contributing ideas for new dishes and improvements.
  • Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment, adhering to health and safety regulations.
  • Monitor food inventory and supplies, ensuring proper storage and minimizing waste.
  • Work collaboratively with the kitchen team to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
  • Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, performing maintenance or reporting issues as needed.
  • Follow all food safety and sanitation procedures, conducting regular cleaning and inspections.
  • Mentor and train junior kitchen staff, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
  • Participate in kitchen meetings and training sessions to stay updated on new techniques and standards.

Responsibilities

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a professional kitchen or culinary setting.
  • Strong knowledge of cooking techniques, ingredients, and kitchen equipment.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure, managing multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of quality and cleanliness.
  • Passion for culinary arts and a desire to continuously learn and improve.
  • Ability to handle the physical demands of the job, including standing for extended periods and lifting heavy items.
