Job Description

Job Title:                                            Core Faculty – MA Program

Reports to:                                         Vice President of Academics

Employment Classification:            Exempt

Supervises:                                        N/A

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Teach courses in assigned area.  Preference given to individuals with expertise in qualitative research methods, existential psychology, and/or multicultural psychology;
  • Maintain an active research agenda and include students and other faculty as appropriate in the process;
  • Possess knowledge of best practices in teaching methods;
  • Possess skills that promote the development of students’ critical thinking;
  • Demonstrate clinical knowledge, experience and expertise relevant to the courses taught; and
  • Maintain active involvement in discipline-related scholarship.

Workload:

The workload typically consists of:  

  • Up to 2 classes per semester, over the course of three semesters (load varies based on other assigned duties);
  • Student advising, dissertation committee work, ongoing accreditation activities/compliance, participation in institutional initiatives, taskforce assignments and committees.

This is a full-time, 12-month, in-person appointment. Position begins in the 2024-2025 academic year with a contract consisting of three semesters and the opportunity for a multiple year contract after the first year of successful employment.

Required Qualifications:

  • Doctorate degree in Psychology (PhD/PsyD) from an APA accredited program.
  • Licensed or license eligible faculty are given a preference in all hiring. Unlicensed individuals may be considered for a Research Faculty position.
  • 3-5 years teaching experience with a preference for teaching at the graduate level and expertise in foundational areas of clinical psychology;
  • A demonstrated commitment to fostering an educational climate of inclusion and diversity.
  • A demonstrated ability to mentor students and supervise student research.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with students, faculty and professional staff.
  • Individuals in sub disciplines that are not license eligible (i.e. social psychology, research) may be considered with an appropriately modified workload based on curricular needs.

The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated commitment to and experience in working with diverse populations; will support the values and vision of MSP; possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills; a commitment to the practitioner-scholar model of teaching; and a record of achievement in the field of health services psychology, research and clinical practice. MSP is especially interested in candidates who, through their research, teaching, and/or service, will contribute to the diversity and excellence of the MSP community.

Salary:

$80,000

The faculty role is a full-time salaried position with benefits. Benefits include medical, dental and vision insurance, paid time off, retirement benefits (after one year of service), flexible spending account, dependent care spending account, life, short and long-term disability insurance and an employee assistance program.

This position is exempt from provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and is not eligible to earn overtime pay for hours worked above 40 in a single workweek.

Working Conditions:

This is not a remote position; work is performed in person on campus.
