Description: General Dynamics Land Systems is a global leader in the design, development, production, support and sustainment of tracked and wheeled military equipment, specifically the Abrams Main Battle Tank and the Stryker Family of Wheeled Combat Vehicles.
The success machine operator is assigned to and assumes responsibility for the satisfactory operation of a number of machines. This description includes the operation of the following machines:
ELOX
Blanchard Grind
Engine Lathe
Deburring/inserting (Helicoil)
Boring Machine
Broach
Twisting Machine
Face Grinder
Milling Machine
Sawing Machine
Perform tasks that are incidental to the performance of the operation, such as:
Clean up his/her immediate work area. Under exceptional circumstances, may be assigned to perform general cleaning in the department area. This classification does not include general routine department cleaning.
Pre and/or post operation and safety checks of equipment.
May be required to verify that he has followed his written instructions. These instructions may include the appropriate operation sheets or quality assurance directives.
Moving one's own material within his/her own department using work saver type equipment. For the continuance of an operation, may require the movement of his/her own material to or from an adjoining department using work saver type equipment.
Perform administrative tasks relating to the classification.
May perform non-skilled tasks, of a routine nature, that can be performed in a safe manner, i.e., minor lubrication, apply rust proofing, deburring, etc.
Knowledge of micrometers, calipers, etc.
Gages that are inoperative and are required for the continuance of the operation may be hand carried directly for repair and/or recalibration. This does not include gages that are recalibrated on a frequency basis. These gages will be handled as determined locally.
Background Requirements :
High School Diploma or GED
Must be a US Person
1-3 years experience in general machining
