Overview
Christian Residential Opportunities and Social Services, also known as Cross, Inc is looking for a new House Parent!

CROSS Inc. has three Personal Care Homes that provide 24/7 residential services to adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities. The ministry started with the Personal Care Home CROSS Inc calls “Grace Home” located in Shippensburg, PA which opened in 1987. Cross Inc. has since expanded to open two other homes in St. Thomas and Dillsburg to serve this population.

The opening Cross Inc. is looking to fill is for the home located in St. Thomas, PA. 

Here at CROSS, the goal is to create developmental environments to support opportunities for intellectual, spiritual, and emotional growth based on Christian values. CROSS Inc. has a motto: “do life together” which is much different than just providing care for residents; we want to go above and beyond the typical model for social services.

One way CROSS, Inc strives to live out the motto is that each Personal Care Home has House Parent(s) who reside with the residents in the home. The House Parent lives in an own 4 bedroom, 1 bath, 1800 square foot home that is attached to the residents living space. All home expenses are covered by CROSS, Inc. Currently 4 adults with IDD/DD that live in the home, with the capacity of 6.

CROSS Inc. also makes every effort to live alongside the residents and engage with residents and the resident's preferred activities, meals, social events, church and anything else CROSS Inc. can do to give the residents the best lives possible.

Duties

  • Supervise and support residents in daily activities, ensuring a safe and positive environment.
  • Report to: Administrator
  • Schedule and oversee staffing to provide quality care for all residents.
  • Oversee staff personnel matters, making regular performance reviews and recommendations for hiring and termination of subordinate employees.
  • Oversee the administration of medications and assure that regulations are being met.
  • Plan Menus, activities, fire drills, and other functions needed for yearly inspection.
  • Assist in providing in-service training to all staff.
  • Provide a crisis resolution function as needed.
  • Assure that Home maintains high standards of cleanliness.
  • Provide Direct Care as needed.
  • Serve as public relations for the home on a day to day basis.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Provides transportation and support to residents as needed.
  • Responsible for the use and accountability of petty cash.
  • Assist new residents during transition period
  • Implement individualized care plans tailored to each resident’s needs.
  • Administer medication as prescribed, maintaining accurate records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Assist residents with personal care tasks, including lifting when necessary.
  • Foster positive relationships with residents by engaging in recreational activities and providing emotional support.
  • Collaborate with social workers and other professionals to address the needs of residents with disabilities or autism.
  • Maintain a clean and organized living space for the residents.
  • Document daily activities and any incidents in accordance with agency policies.

Experience

  • Previous experience in social work or a related field is preferred.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology and medication administration is advantageous.
  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities or autism is highly desirable.
  • A background in nursing or caregiving can be beneficial for this role.
  • Understanding of care plans and the ability to implement them effectively is essential.

The House Parent position requires dedication, empathy, and strong communication skills to ensure the well-being of all residents.

House Parent Package:

Salary: $26,000

Retirement: $3,000 annually in January

Line Item for health coverage: Negotiable upon hire

Costs covered by Cross:

Rent (Est yearly value= $18,000)

Water (Est yearly Value = $480)

Sewage (Est yearly Value= $1,170)

Heat (Est yearly Value= $1,800)

Electric (Est yearly Value= $2,100)
