Job Description

The J.R. Simplot Company is a diverse, privately held global food and agriculture company headquartered in Boise, Idaho. We are a true farm-to-table company with an integrated portfolio including food processing and food brands, phosphate mining, fertilizer manufacturing, farming, ranching and cattle production, and other enterprises related to agriculture.

Summary

We currently have a Software Engineering Intern position available at our headquarters in Boise, ID. We are looking for someone who has a passion for technology and wants to gain some experience working on a team that develops technical solutions using cloud-based technologies. Will learn to dig into code to understand its purpose. Will participate in troubleshooting and debugging complex programs. Will learn to analyze problems within system logic and assist in making programmatic changes.

Key Responsibilities

• Learn to develop and configure cloud-based software.
• Learn to perform root cause analysis to help deliver production system fixes and enhancements.
• Learn to participate as a contributing member of a delivery team.

Typical Education

• Enrollment in an educational facility/university and working toward a Computer Science or similar degree
• Junior year preferred, but not required

Relevant Experience

• Understanding of budgeting tools and techniques
• Excellent problem solving and decision-making skills
• Working knowledge of Excel - including formatting, formulas and linking of workbooks
• Self-motivated, independent worker that can function under limited supervision
• Must have a positive attitude and possess good inter-personal skills

Other Information

• Exposure to front-end UI/UX development using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript a plus.
• Exposure to web servers a plus.
• Exposure to cloud-based technologies and cloud-native concepts a plus.
• Experience in at least one of the following areas: Software development in C#, ASP.NET, JavaScript, AngularJS, Typescript, Azure, CI/CD pipelines, source control, Object Oriented principles, Common software design patterns, and software development best practices.
