Job Description

Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Lab Manager to oversee the daily operations of our laboratory. The Lab Manager will be responsible for leading the laboratory team, managing testing procedures, ensuring the quality and accuracy of results, and maintaining a safe, efficient, and compliant laboratory environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in laboratory management, excellent leadership abilities, and a deep understanding of laboratory best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and supervise the laboratory team to ensure effective and efficient operations.
  • Develop and implement laboratory policies, procedures, and protocols to ensure high-quality testing, accurate data, and compliance with regulatory standards (e.g., GMP, ISO).
  • Manage laboratory resources, including equipment, supplies, and inventory, ensuring that they are properly maintained and calibrated.
  • Oversee the preparation, execution, and analysis of laboratory tests and experiments to meet project objectives and timelines.
  • Ensure all laboratory records are accurately documented and stored according to company standards, maintaining proper traceability and compliance.
  • Ensure laboratory safety by enforcing strict safety protocols, conducting regular safety audits, and providing training to staff on safe practices.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support product development, quality control, and troubleshooting efforts.
  • Troubleshoot laboratory equipment and resolve technical issues as needed, escalating when necessary.
  • Develop and deliver training programs to enhance the technical skills of laboratory staff.
  • Monitor performance and productivity metrics, providing coaching and feedback to laboratory staff to foster a high-performance culture.
  • Stay current on industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging technologies to continuously improve laboratory practices and capabilities.
  • Prepare and manage laboratory budgets, ensuring cost-effective operations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field (Master's or advanced degree preferred).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a laboratory environment, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or management role.
  • Extensive experience with laboratory equipment, testing methodologies, and quality control processes.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory requirements (e.g., GLP, GMP, ISO standards).
  • Proven leadership skills with experience managing and mentoring a team.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficient in laboratory management software and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.
  • Comfortable working in a laboratory environment with exposure to chemicals and various testing materials.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with specific laboratory instruments or techniques relevant to the industry.
  • Advanced knowledge of quality assurance and quality control systems.
  • Experience with project management and process optimization.
