General Responsibilities:
Under the leadership of the Director, to ensure compliance with all policies, procedures, legal and regulatory guidelines related to the employment process. To be responsible for day-to-day management of personnel for UAB Medicine Employment. To develop, implement and administer departmental goals, objectives and budgets. To ensure excellent customer service for internal and external customers. To serve on special committees and participate in special projects.Key Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Oversees the recruitment/employment functions for UAB Hospital, UAHSF and UAB Health System positions at UAB Medicine. Ensures compliance with federal and state regulations and policy and procedures. Monitors compliance with budget on a regular basis to forecast future problems. Assists in development of strategies to address budgetary problems.
2. Serves as liaison with Marketing for global recruitment initiatives and departmental needs.
3. Ensures TA staff processes hire paperwork/pre-hire requirements in a timely manner so there is an efficient document flow to RMS, Records, Administration and Payroll.
4. Provides continuous evaluation and improvement of document processes. Identifies and implements system changes/development efforts designed to enhance and further promote operational efficiencies.
5. Manages recruitment process. Develops and maintains relationships with applicants, customers, schools, and outside workforce Programs.
6. Promotes positive, constructive working relationship among personnel in department and with all internal areas/departments within UAB Medicine, UAB and outside agencies.
7. Serves as initial point of contact for internal customers regarding all areas of HR including, but not limited to Records, Compensation, Benefits, Relations, and Payroll. Serves as liaison with the Health Services Foundation, UAB SOM, Callahan Eye Hospital, Health System and Central HR/Administration.
8. Manages personnel within UAB Medicine Talent Acquisition. Interviews, hires, trains, disciplines, and discharges employees in consultation with Director. Ensures that established personnel policies and procedures are followed. Provides employees with regular feedback based on their ongoing performance. Recommends employee promotion, discipline and discharge based on carefully documented information.
9. Ensures completion of a regular performance evaluation for each employee based upon objectives and time frames; done in conjunction with input from Director. Assesses the training and educational needs of employees within Talent Acquisition. Keeps employees apprised of current information relative to Talent Acquisition and UAB Medicine. Maintains Kronos and Leave Reports for TA staff. Encourages professional development and assists employees in career paths.
10. Serves as recruiter for senior leadership and HR positions as needed.
11. Participates and provides assistance with regulatory site visits, surveys, contracts and agreements and legal request.
12. Directs and communicates HR initiatives for UAB Medicine.
13. Triage and solve emerging issues from staff and leaders regarding TA, employee relations, compensation, compliance and policies and procedures.
14. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in human resources or a related field of study and five (5) years employment/recruitment experience required, preferably in healthcare. Two (2) years of previous
leadership experience required. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, email, and internet applications, and have extensive knowledge regarding applicant tracking software and HR operating systems.Licenses / Certifications / Registrations:
PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification preferred.
