OVERVIEW Merrick & Company is seeking an experienced
Project Manager for our growing practice in
Oil and Gas projects , include chemicals, downstream refining, and upstream/midstream processing, or related process industries. The business is currently comprised of heavy retrofit and advanced technology projects in refineries, as well as projects in the power, chemicals, industrial manufacturing and bioprocessing space, including biofuels, biochemicals, waste to energy, and renewable natural gas.
The individual will be an operational leader to cultivate all aspects of our chemicals, and oil and gas practice. The individual will be responsible for projects related to capacity expansions, facility upgrades, regulatory compliance, debottlenecking, and turnarounds. Candidate should be experienced at managing the engineering efforts of some or many of these types of projects, including EPCM projects. Geographic coverage typically includes the Rocky Mountain, Midcontinent, and Gulf Coast regions, though the balance of the US is not excluded. The position can be located in any one of the six Energy/ Manufacturing/ Bioprocessing Business Unit locations:
Greenwood Village (Denver Metro), Colorado; Tulsa, Oklahoma; Chattanooga, Tennessee; Baltimore, Maryland; Richmond, Virginia; or Newport News, Virginia, but preference is for Tulsa or Greenwood Village. Typical annual pay range for this position is $121,700.00 - $170,000.00. Pay offered may vary depending on job related knowledge, skills, and experience. Once trained, a hybrid schedule may be supported.
WHAT YOU'LL DO - Oversee project planning, earned value management, technical leadership, quality control, and client satisfaction.
- Manage project teams with multi-discipline engineering discipline leads.
- Master and implementing industry best practices from PMI, CII and AACE.
- Inform engineering discipline leads of resource requirements.
- Travel to client sites several times per month for the purposes of design meetings and developing new work.
- Contribute to business development and meeting with clients to develop scopes of work.
- Contribute to corporate and business unit strategic planning efforts.
- Meet with clients to prepare and/or validate proposed scope of work. This work includes client development, proposal assistance, project planning, estimating, scheduling, and establishing project controls.
- Potentially serve as an account manager for key clients.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS - Demonstrated proficiency in project management for A-E firms, including managing budgeted and scheduled design effort, and demonstrate skills in developing multi-discipline teams.
- Expertise that encompasses client development, proposal support, planning, estimating, scheduling, project controls, and multi-discipline project execution
- Experience working in an engineering services and construction environment, with experience in managing Engineering only, EPC and EPCM projects
- Previous P&L responsibility for Engineering only; additional consideration made for experience with EPC and EPCM managed projects
- Ten (10) or more years of experience in upstream/midstream processing, downstream refining and chemicals, or related process industries
- Bachelor's degree in engineering - all degrees considered; Mechanical, Civil, and Chemical degrees will be most applicable to this position.
- Professional Engineering License is required.
- Strong understanding of industrial and energy projects, with background in the O&G sector or in related industries.
- Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.
- Must have a valid driver's license, a good driving record, and be insurable under Merrick's insurance carrier.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS - Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification (preferred).
- Solid understanding of industrial energy projects, both greenfield and retrofit.
- Thorough understanding of earned value management, project scheduling, and risk management.
- Recent successful project experiences involving some of the following areas: downstream processing, refinery processes and unit design, gas cleanup, thermal chemical conversion, pyrolysis and/or material handling.
