About the role
As a Sales Development Representative at Tacton, you will be the first point of contact for prospective customers and play a key role in driving our sales pipeline. Your main responsibility will be identifying potential customers, engaging with decision-makers, and qualifying leads to ensure alignment with Tacton’s solutions for manufacturers. You’ll work closely with our marketing and sales teams to nurture and convert prospects into qualified opportunities. What you will do
1. Lead Generation & Outreach:

  • Conduct research to identify prospects in the complex manufacturing sector.
  • Generate leads through outbound activities like cold calling, email campaigns, LinkedIn outreach, and social selling.
  • Maintain a high volume of daily activities (calls, emails, social interactions) to engage potential clients.
  • Effectively communicate the value of Tacton’s CPQ solutions, addressing customer pain points.
  • Engage with key decision-makers (VPs, Directors, C-level executives in Sales, Manufacturing, and IT roles).
  • Follow up on inbound leads from marketing campaigns, webinars, and events.

2. Scheduling Sales Demos & Meetings:

  • Coordinate and schedule discovery calls, product demos, and meetings with the sales team.
  • Ensure a seamless handoff of qualified leads to Account Executives with relevant background information.
  • Follow up with leads to confirm engagement and clearly communicate next steps, keeping detailed CRM records.

3. Nurturing Relationships:

  • Develop and maintain relationships with leads through personalized outreach.
  • Educate prospects on how Tacton’s CPQ solutions solve their business challenges.
  • Use Tacton’s content (case studies, whitepapers, webinars) to engage and nurture potential clients.

4. Collaboration with Sales & Marketing:

  • Work closely with Account Executives to ensure smooth handoff of qualified leads.
  • Provide feedback to marketing on lead quality and campaign effectiveness.
  • Collaborate on optimizing messaging and lead nurturing strategies.

5. CRM Management & Reporting:

  • Keep accurate records of outreach activities, conversations, and lead qualification in CRM (Salesforce).
  • Monitor key metrics such as lead response times, meeting set rates, and pipeline contributions.
  • Provide regular updates on progress toward individual and team goals.

6. Market Intelligence & Networking:

  • Attend networking events and trade shows to build relationships and generate leads.
  • Stay informed on market trends, competition, and industry developments.

Requirements

  • 1-3 years of experience in sales development or lead generation, ideally in a B2B SaaS or software environment.
  • Experience in the manufacturing sector is a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Tech, or a related field.
  • Proficient in CRM tools like Salesforce, HubSpot, or similar platforms.
  • Basic understanding of B2B sales processes and lead generation strategies.
  • Experience with account-based marketing (ABM) strategies and outbound sales techniques.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, confident in engaging with C-level executives.

  • You should be able to work from the Chicago office at least three days per week.
