SRE Developer Experience - Leading Proprietary Trading Firm:

A globally successful systematic high-frequency trading firm is growing their DevEx team based in Chicago, looking for someone with strong SRE expertise and a software background. The ideal candidate will deliver exceptional software development solutions to internal clients, including traders and quantitative developers. This role offers end-to-end service ownership, plays a vital role in project development and delivery, and dedicated support primarily in a cloud environment. Using technologies such as Docker, Terraform, Kubernetes, CI/CD, and languages like Python, Java, or Go, you will construct scalable and maintainable infrastructure to meet our business's demanding requirements.

You will:

• Partner with leadership, trading teams, and developers to drive engineering effectiveness across the organization
• Drive ownership of the Development Experience team services and products, including source control, build artifact repositories, static analysis tools, and software delivery systems
• Resolve complex systems issues during support rotations while building strong relationships across teams
• Manage hybrid infrastructure environments (cloud and on-premises) using infrastructure-as-code patterns to ensure reliable service scaling
• Create and maintain self-service documentation while providing tool education and demonstrations to internal end users
• Serve as a key individual contributor while effectively sharing knowledge throughout the team

You are someone who:

• Years of development experience with proficiency in at least one high-level programming language (Go, Python, or Java), and successfully launched developer productivity tools
• Expertise with configuration management tools like Ansible for repeatable infrastructure management, and deep experience in complex systems debugging and triage
• Strong knowledge of Linux system administration in both on-premises and cloud environments
• Strong experience from troubleshooting low-level OS issues to architecting robust CI artifact storage solutions
• Experience in containerized application support using Kubernetes, Docker, and Terraform
• Advanced understanding of CI/CD pipeline development and maintenance
• Built and maintained high-quality solutions throughout a software- entire lifecycle
• Demonstrates exceptional relationship-building and communication skills, with the ability to positively influence the organization's entire software delivery lifecycle
• Takes a direct approach, effectively balancing immediate needs with future optimization while ensuring long-term solution sustainability
• Maintains enthusiasm for Continuous Integration and Delivery
• Demonstrates intrinsic motivation, intellectual curiosity, commitment to learning, and strong collaborative abilities
