Budgeted Pay Scale: $60,100 - $90,000 Annually
Full Salary Range: USD $60,100.00/Yr. - USD $123,900.00/Yr.

This position is hybrid eligible and requires being onsite 3 days a week to start.

This position is eligible for a remote work arrangement within the state of California. The selected candidate must reside within the state of California or be willing to relocate
Position Summary
The UCLA School of Law Veterans Legal Clinic is seeking a Staff Attorney to join its team serving the veteran community through client representation, community engagement, and clinic coordination. The Staff Attorney's primary responsibility is to provide direct legal representation to individuals in an array of issues, including disability benefits, record clearing, and landlord-tenant disputes.
Salary & Compensation
*UCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. Qualifications
- 0-5 Years Practicing law, experience representing individuals preferred (Required)
- Demonstrated commitment to working to address the needs of low-income communities, former service members, system-involved individuals, disability justice, and/or racial equity. (Preferred)
- Familiarity or experience with issues facing former service members and their families, unhoused individuals, mass incarceration, and/or low-income communities (Preferred)
- Demonstrated excellent legal research and writing skills (Required)
- Strong communication skills and ability to interact effectively with various audiences, including clients, faculty, staff, students, court and agency staff, and the public (Required)
- Experience with a diverse range of people including systems actors and low-income community members (Preferred)
- Ability to independently manage a caseload and quickly assume responsibilities (Required)
Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations
- Juris Doctor (JD) Degree or other law degree from a State Bar-accredited or American bar Association - approved law school. (Required)
- Must be a member in good standing of the State Bar of California and maintain that standing through continuing legal education credits required by the State Bar. (Preferred)
- Ability to practice as a Registered Legal Services Attorney(see California Court Rule 9.45), if not a member of the State bar of California (Required)
Special Conditions for Employment
- Background Check: Continued employment is contingent upon the completion of a satisfactory background investigation.
- Live Scan Background Check: A Live Scan background check must be completed prior to the start of employment.
- Age Requirement: Candidate(s) must be 18 years or older to be eligible to be hired.
- Ability to travel throughout LA County
