SUMMARY

The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) is seeking a Student Success Program Manager who will manage the day-to-day operations of Dominion Energy's Building Hispanic Talent Initiative (BHTI). The Program Manager will serve as the main point of contact for BHTI activities and will collaborate closely with staff, participating BHTI colleges and universities, and Dominion Energy partners. Other duties include providing support for student programs and services that fall under the Department of Student Success and Student Services. This is a grant-funded position with an anticipated end date of December 31, 2028. Position may be shortened or extended based on funds availability and the needs of the organization.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in education, public administration, social work, STEM, or related field from an accredited college or university.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in student development, community outreach, or program management. Previous experience in grant management and reporting and/or program evaluation and implementation, preferred.
  • Must be proactive, organized, and professional, with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with individuals and groups from diverse backgrounds in a manner that is consistent with HACU's culture, mission, and values.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to collect and tell student success stories and speak effectively before small and large groups. Strong public relations and customer service skills preferred.
  • Must have a high attention to detail and be able to organize workflow, coordinate activities, balance simultaneous projects, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and cooperatively as a member of a team.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and other virtual meeting tools is required.
  • Strong budget management skills preferred.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manages, monitors, and evaluates programming related to the Building Hispanic Talent Initiative.
  • Collects, analyzes, and interprets data to evaluate program effectiveness, make program recommendations, and prepare and present program reports, including end-of-year reports.
  • Reviews micro grant proposals and manages the process of awarding funds to HACU member institutions, including the implementation of micro grant programs, supervising micro grant awardees, monitoring expenditures, documenting payments, and optimizing the micro grant administration process.
  • Prepares and monitors grant budget; drafts financial reports as requested.
  • Plans, develops, and executes program activities and events, including the BHTI's annual virtual celebration and site visits to meet students, staff, and Dominion Energy partners.
  • Coordinates the marketing and promotion of BHTI activities, creating and developing any marketing and/or branded items, printed and digital, as needed for the promotion and implementation of the program.
  • Establishes and maintains effective communication with participating HACU member institutions to ensure a smooth engagement and overall program success, to include conducting monthly touchpoint meetings with departments hosting the Summer Bridge Program at selected colleges and universities to ensure all deliverables are provided, questions are answered, and challenges are addressed.
  • Facilitates relationships between colleges and universities, high school students and their families, Dominion Energy and HACU to ensure success of the program.
  • Provides regular feedback to Dominion Energy regarding BHTI, specifically participant success and program progression and status of grant.
  • Serves as point of contact between HACU and Dominion Energy to coordinate HACU conference related events and activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned that support the mission, vision, values, and goals of the department.
  • Must be available to travel as needed throughout the year.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • The employee will work a standard of 40 hours a week; however, longer hours may be necessary at times.
  • Conferences and other HACU events may take place in hotel and/or convention center settings and require longer hours of work on a constantly changing schedule, including work on weekends and evenings.
  • Working conditions are in an office environment with sitting or standing, computer data entry, answering phones.
  • Occasionally moves items weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Occasionally requires employee to squat, kneel, bend at the waist, and reach for items.
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery.
  • Positions self to perform essential functions of the job in an office setting.
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time.
  • Maintains and ensures security of HACU-issued equipment, software, data, and supplies.
  • Travel may be required to perform essential functions.
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
