Job Description
R.J. Corman Railroad Company is currently seeking
Track Crew Members to inspect and maintain railroad track in the
Houston, TX area. Must be mechanically inclined, able to work away from home including long hours andweekends as necessary. Previous railroad experience a plus.
Candidates will perform switching, equipment maintenance, and otherduties associated with maintaining anefficient switching operation.
Job Requirements: - Complete required job duties safely and efficiently.
- Railroad construction experience preferred.
- Ability to pass railroad safety test and training.
- Complete all required documentation.
- Promote a safe work environment.
- Ability to communicate well with co-workers, customers, and supervisors.
- Ability to operate power tools.
- Work is performed outside in varying types of environmental conditions.
- Applicant must be able to lift, carry, stand, walk on uneven surfaces, manually manipulate, grasp, reach out, climb, kneel, bend, twist, and push/pull with confined spaces.
Physical Requirements: - Able to perform physical strenuous work
- Able to frequently bend, stoop, kneel, and crouch
- Able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50lbs
- Requires occasional use of 30lb claw bar to remove spikes, requiring application of 50lbs of force
- Requires occasional use of 10lb sledge hammer to drive spikes, requiring application of 75lbs of force
- Able to walk, climb, and maintain balance on equipment, stairs, ladders, uneven terrain, rails and ballast in a safe manner
- Able to navigate into confined spaces if necessary
Environmental Conditions: Performs duties in multiple environments including outside construction project settings, in and around moving vehicles and equipment.Exposure to weather elements; must wear appropriate PPE required for theprojectsite.
