Serve as an Instructor for the Upward Bound program during the Summer Academy. Instructors will design and deliver innovative lessons to support students from 10th – 12th grade in their academic subjects for added learning and preparation for High School and Collegiate Studies. Instructional design and delivery are expected to be Differentiated, Innovative, Hands-On, Creative and/or Utilize Various Technology Platforms. Responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to:

Utilize Course Objectives provided for the class. Administering pre-tests, post-tests, and evaluations. Planning, teaching, and preparing course materials for five weeks of instruction. Evaluates student and group performance. Complete performance outcome assessments. Recommends program improvements. Complete all mandatory trainings and attend regularly scheduled Staff Meetings. Performs related duties as required.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or higher with concentration in the field of learning development and/or in the assigned teaching field. Two years teaching experience. Organizational skills. Ability to establish and maintain effective rapport with students and faculty. Experience working with first-generation, low-income, and at-risk youth. Be able to provide hands-on activities and research opportunities/ideas.

Preferred Qualifications:

Prior experience working with or teaching high school students.
Knowledge of effective classroom management and instructional techniques.
