Delmar Systems, the mooring industry leader, is seeking a yard operator to join our team in Fourchon, Louisiana. As an Operator, you will be responsible for operating forklifts and completing various rigging tasks as needed. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of working with rigging equipment and experience with equipment maintenance. Additionally, you must be able to effectively communicate and work with other team members to ensure that all work is done efficiently and safely.

Job Duties:

• Responsible for safely operating a forklift truck to move materials, products, and equipment to different locations within a worksite.
• Must be proficient in maneuvering the forklift, adjusting its speed, and operating its various controls.
• Inspect forklifts to ensure it is safe and in good working order. This includes checking for any damaged or worn parts, leaks, or other issues that could cause safety hazards.
• Loading and unloading materials, products, and equipment onto and off of trucks or vessels and other storage areas using the forklift truck and/or other equipment.
• Perform yard maintenance and housekeeping as necessary.
• Work closely with other team members, such as yard managers, boat crews, offshore crews, or other operators.
• Effective communication with other team members throughout the workday.
• Attach loads to rigging to support or prepare them for moving, using hand and power tools.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable safety rules and regulations
• Monitor and maintain all rigging equipment
• Report all safety concerns as soon as possible.
• Set up and break down necessary equipment.
• Maintain control of all loads at all times
• Maneuver loads through difficult spaces
• Inspecting and preparing loads that need to be moved.
• Setting, aligning, and leveling heavy equipment machinery.
• Selecting the appropriate rigging gear.
• Dismantle and store rigging equipment after use.
• Signal or verbally direct workers engaged in hoisting and moving loads

Operator Requirements :

• High school diploma or GED.
• 2+ years working as a yard operator or rigger.
• Familiarity with OSHA safety standards.
• Must be able to assess potential risks and hazards associated with forklift operations and take appropriate steps to mitigate these risks.
• In-depth knowledge of rigging equipment and heavy machinery.
• Excellent hearing and vision.
• Ability to work at heights and in noisy environments.
• Physical fitness and ability to lift 50lbs.
• Ability to work outdoors in harsh weather conditions.
