Job Description
The School of Arts & Humanities is seeking an engaging and knowledgeable part-time instructor to teach undergraduate art history courses focused on research and writing. This role offers a collaborative teaching environment where you'll work closely with faculty from the Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) program to deliver inspiring and informative courses.
Courses Offered:
The adjunct instructor may be assigned to teach one or more of the following courses, depending on experience and scheduling needs:
Art Appreciation (ARH 110)
Survey of Native American Art (ARH 211)
Survey of World Art: Prehistoric to 1500 (ARH 213)
Survey of World Art: 1500 to Present (ARH 214)
Contemporary Issues in Art (ARH 313)
Note: This list represents the primary courses offered, but may not encompass all teaching responsibilities. As part of our commitment to dynamic education, there may be flexibility or occasional adjustments to teaching assignments.
Position Details:
This is a remote role, with all classes conducted through the institution's online Learning Management System (Canvas). As an instructor, you'll be responsible for developing and delivering content, grading assignments, reporting grades, and assessing student learning outcomes as guided by the School of Arts & Humanities.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
Minimum Requirements:
At least 18 graduate credits in art history or a related field, demonstrating strong academic knowledge and successful completion in an accredited graduate program.
A commitment to fostering an inclusive and diverse learning environment and a dedication to student success.
Preferred Qualifications:
An M.A. in art history, Indigenous Studies, or a related field.
Experience advising and guiding student research or projects in art history.
Background knowledge in Native American art history or related Indigenous Studies.
Skills and Abilities:
Proficiency in research and writing within the field of art history or a related discipline.
Strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, with a demonstrated interest in contributing to a supportive and engaging student experience.
Interest or experience in working within Native American communities or similar settings.
A collaborative spirit, particularly within the context of a tribal college environment.
Physical Requirements, Work Environment & Travel:
This is a fully remote teaching position conducted through the Canvas LMS platform.
Additional Responsibilities:
The adjunct instructor will manage all aspects of course delivery, from content development to assignment grading and reporting of final grades. Responsibilities also include the assessment of student learning outcomes as specified by the school's leadership.
