Job Description

We invite you to join the high-energy team at Chatham Bars Inn, a Forbes Travel Guide Five Star Hotel on Cape Cod, Massachusetts with 25 oceanfront acres, 217 rooms and suites, five restaurants, boating, a private beach, full-service spa, 8-acre farm and endless recreation activities. Open year round, the Inn is a five-minute stroll from Chatham’s charming Main Street and within a short drive of all Cape Cod has to offer. The depth and talent of our culinary team provides an exciting atmosphere of creativity and ongoing professional development with five restaurants, banquets, corporate events and weddings. The Inn sources most ingredients locally from the Chatham Bars Inn Farm, local fishermen and purveyors. Innovative areas include our bread program, preservation and fermentation, partnership with our farm, changing menus and a dedicated pastry team. The position of Breakfast Cook will prepare and cook breakfast menu items for various restaurants. Responsibilities include:

  • Ensure 100% quality of products served
  • Follow standard portion sizes, cooking methods, and kitchen rules
  • Stock and maintain food levels at line stations
  • Portion food according to recipes
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary work station
  • Prepare items for broiling, grilling, frying, sautéing, etc.
  • Follow proper plate presentation and garnish setup
  • Handle, store, and rotate products correctly
  • Complete tasks within assigned time frames
  • Track and report food waste
  • Assist in food prep during off-peak periods
  • Open and/or close the kitchen properly, following checklists
  • Cook items from the point-of-sale system
  • Help wash dishes, prepare recycling, clean, and assist with projects
  • Attend employee meetings and suggest improvements
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
  • 2+ years of culinary experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent vocational training
  • Clear and effective communication in English
  • Basic math skills
  • Attention to detail, speed, and accuracy
  • Ability to prioritize, organize, and follow through with tasks
  • Remain calm and resolve problems using good judgment
  • Work well under pressure and handle multiple tasks professionally
  • Team player
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment
  • Follow and adjust recipes
  • Good knife skills
  • Properly season food
  • Follow all processes
  • Read contracts and order tickets
