As the Engineering Technician you will be responsible for the functions outlined below:

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for demonstrating commitment to and leadership of environmental health and safety principles, policies and procedures.
  • Support firearm developmental efforts in terms of product component design, development, prototyping, and performance measurement & verification.
  • Assist engineers in performing technical tasks related to manufacturing processes and projects.
  • Work within specific project objectives and recommend appropriate technical solutions for new products.
  • Set up and prepare equipment for tests, experiments, and manufacturing processes according to provided guidelines.
  • Perform DOE / ANOVA experiments to solve research questions with utilization of applicable Statistical software packages. Monitor tests and experiments, observe results, and document findings accurately.
  • Maintain accurate records of experiments, tests, and results, ensuring all documentation is organized and easily accessible.
  • Apply key NPD tools and analysis methodology throughout the product development and verification process. (FMEA, Weibull, FEA, DFM, DFMA, Rapid prototyping, CAD, & Stage Gate process).
  • Perform root cause analysis on products returned from the consumers and communicate results of the investigation to the engineering and quality organization
  • Compile summaries and reports based on collected data and observations, providing clear and concise information to senior personnel.
  • Interface with product development engineers to resolve technical issues.
  • Development of Quantifiable Measurement methods followed by Benchmarking and Characterization.
  • Work closely with senior personnel and engineers to ensure seamless communication and coordination within the manufacturing team.
  • Assist in maintaining high-quality standards in manufacturing processes by following established guidelines and protocols.
  • Participates in the company’s efforts to continuously improve in Safety, 6S, Quality, Delivery and Productivity.
  • Expected to be a contributor to the company standards on high integrity, safety, fair and equitable treatment and a positive work environment
  • Other responsibilities as deemed appropriate or necessary by management.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required. Some technical college education or early career degree in engineering-related fields is preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Associates degree in applicable field preferred or extensive firearm experience.
  • Minimum of one year of work experience in a manufacturing environment is mandatory.
  • Understanding of product development & design related to materials applications, failure analysis, materials characterization, and mechanical testing.
  • Self-driven hands on, with good communication skills.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment, including cross-functional teams, and exert influence without alienating others.
  • Strong problem-solving ability.
  • The ability to quickly understand scope and constraints of a problem and to develop solutions that meet timing, cost, business requirements and consumer needs.
  • Ability to clearly communicate ideas, processes, and technical requirements through effective written, graphic, and oral methods.
  • Basic understanding of Lean, Kaizen, & Design for Manufacturing principles a plus.
  • Positive attitude with strong work ethic.
  • Knowledge of SolidWorks.
  • Moderate understanding of manufacturing processes and engineering concepts.
  • Ability to work under close direction and supervision of senior personnel.
  • Strong organizational skills with keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Basic computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office applications for data entry and report generation.
  • Willingness to learn and grow within the role, demonstrating a proactive attitude towards professional development.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift and carry awkward items weighing up to 25 pounds
  • Requires intermittent standing, walking, sitting and bending throughout the workday
  • Must be able to work in a manufacturing environment, to include working in and around machinery, exposure to noise and chemicals, lights/lasers, etc.
  • Must be able to wear appropriate Personal Protection Equipment as required by your position and/or Company policy
