Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Sign Language Interpreter for a fully remote, full-time position. In this role, you will provide one-on-one interpretation services to an elementary school student throughout the school day. This assignment runs from August 2024 to May 2025, and you will be working remotely to support the student's educational experience.

Responsibilities:

Deliver real-time interpretation services for a student who is deaf or hard of hearing during classroom instruction, meetings, and extracurricular activities.
Facilitate clear and effective communication between the student, teachers, staff, and parents to support the student's participation and understanding.
Adapt your interpretation techniques to suit the diverse needs and preferences of the student.
Work closely with educators and support staff to foster an inclusive learning environment that enhances the student's success.
Uphold confidentiality and maintain a high level of professionalism at all times.
Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Sign Language Interpreting or a related field.
RID (Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf) certification is preferred or a score of 3.5 on the EIPA exam.
Experience as a sign language interpreter in educational settings, particularly with K-12 students.
Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and knowledge of various signing systems.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a remote setting.
