Brock Canada Industrial Ltd is looking to hire all level Insulators at Kitimat, B.C. Canada

ABOUT BROCK:

With the Canadian head office in Edmonton, the company supports routine maintenance, turnarounds, and industrial capital projects by providing services including scaffolding and work access, insulation, fireproofing, and asbestos abatement, for general maintenance, construction, turnarounds, and shutdowns to western Canadian producers.

SUMMARY:
An Insulators’ duties may vary from site to site, however the main responsibilities of an Insulator are the installation, fitting, fabrication and attachment of insulation, finishing and weatherproofing materials with a high standard of workmanship using a variety of tools and materials. Insulators work both indoors and outdoors, year-round in commercial and industrial settings.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must have a minimum of two years' previous Insulating experience.
  • Valid certification from an accredited apprenticeship board (proof of hours may be accepted).
  • CSTS is a minimum safety requirement – other tickets that may be required are OSSA Fall Protection, H2S Alive, Confined Space, Standard First Aid.
  • Must be able to work for 8 hours at a time in an environment where temperatures may reach from 0 to 60° C, both indoors and outdoors in the sun.
  • Work in an environment in which vibrations and noise are moderate to severe and noise level may require the wearing of hearing protection devices.
  • Must be able to work in confined spaces for 4-7 hours per day; stand or walk for long periods.
  • Able to wear a full-face respirator for extended periods.
  • Climb and maintain balance on ladders and scaffolding at extreme heights.
  • Stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl.
  • Lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds often and occasionally up to 100 pounds.
  • Maintain footing on surfaces which are sometimes slippery.
  • See well (naturally or with correction) and distinguish colors.
  • Hear well (naturally or with hearing aid).
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with other employees and supervision.
  • Use arms and hands to reach for, handle, and feel objects; and coordinate well the use of hands or fingers and eyes.
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from the work location.
  • Must be able to supply a negative Drug & Alcohol Pre-Access test.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Must comply with all safety regulations of Brock Canada.
  • Ensures that work is performed in accordance with Contractor Specifications and/or as directed by the Contractor’s Representative.
  • Ensures they are following the applicable Contractor’s Safety Procedures, OSHA, state, local and/or Contractor’s safety requirements.
  • Assures that the proper materials, tools and equipment is being used for the specified tasks.
  • Reads specifications, such as blueprints and data, to determine requirements.
  • Able to select the amount and type of insulation to be installed as well as a method of securing the insulation (spraying, pinwelding, wiring, pasting, strapping, taping) according to the type and shape of surface, whether or not the equipment is cold or hot, inside or outside, and what the equipment is being used for.
  • Able to demonstrate the installation, fitting, fabrication and attachment of insulation, finishing and weatherproofing materials to a high standard of workmanship.
  • Install vapor barriers and finish insulated surfaces by applying metal cladding, canvas, plastic sheeting or cement.
  • Able to remove or seal old asbestos insulation.
  • Able to thoroughly describe insulation materials.
  • Sort and organize material
  • Able to count and place orders for material
  • Required to complete safety paperwork such as FLRA’s, Start Cards, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Identifying Objects, Actions, and Events -- Identifying information by categorizing, estimating, recognizing differences or similarities, and detecting changes in circumstances or events.
