Role Summary
As a Retirement Plan Specialist, you'll begin your journey learning the ins and outs of administering, testing, and reporting on 401(k) plans. Through comprehensive training and hands-on experience, you'll progress from document review to administering basic plans. You'll review client-submitted documents, keep clients updated, and help them understand the year-end reporting documents needed for government filings, including the annual Form 5500.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate with clients to gather information for annual reporting.
Review client documents for accuracy and completeness.
Reconcile plans with rollovers and plan stock using Excel and administration software.
Use administration software for 401(k) testing and reporting.
Send reminders and updates to clients during the reporting process.
Prepare 401(k) plan government filings, including the IRS Form 5500, using filing software.
Educate clients on the administration of their 401(k) plans and related documents.
Additional Tasks:
Share your knowledge and simplify complex topics.
Participate in training for Retirement Plan Administrator I.
Perform other duties as required.
Requirements:
At least 18 years old.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong attention to detail and proactive problem-solving approach.
Skills in customer service, organization, and teamwork.
Adequate math and analytical skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
Associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field (business, finance, etc.) or equivalent experience preferred.
Basic knowledge of 401(k) plans, ROBS, and IRS/DOL Regulations preferred.
Ability to work independently and create an inclusive environment where everyone feels valued.
