Nonotuck Resources Associates ( is a community-based agency providing residential services to people with disabilities since 1972. We believe in the vision of life sharing and its transformative power of caring for a person in a home-setting, Nonotuck provides personalized supports to people by matching them with caring providers who open their hearts, their minds and their homes.

Just shy of 1,200 people receive Caregiving with Love in either Shared Living or Adult Family Care. Each person is surrounded by loving, dedicated, experienced and compassionate team members who provide values-based services driven by personal preference, community inclusion, and the goal of a diversity of freely given relationships.

Position Information-

Open Your Heart, Open Your Home/Caregiving with Love Nonotuck Resources Associates ( is a community-based agency that provides residential services since 1972 to people with intellectual disabilities. Believing in the transformative power of caring for a person in a home-setting, we support individuals through matching them with caring providers who open their hearts and homes to our members as Shared Living Providers (SLPs). SLPs need to provide a flexible and supportive environment where the individual they are supporting will feel safe and secure.

Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to: planning and sharing meals together each day, going to appointments and participating in community and social activities. The SLP may also need to provide assistance, supervision and teaching in areas such as bathing, dressing, personal hygiene and budgeting. In addition, there may be a need to offer emotional and behavioral supports.

Nonotuck is currently in search of a kind-hearted and nurturing caregiver in the Pittsfield area who is looking to share their life with a woman in her late sixties. A female caregiver or a couple is preferred. The ideal candidate would have some flexibility in their schedule to accommodate medical/dental appointments and changes in this person’s schedule. Currently, she attends a day program Monday through Friday from 9am to 3pm, with transportation provided.

This person enjoys going out to eat, crocheting, playing cards and dice, coloring and navigating her tablet. She lights up around children and equally loves animals. Her quick wit and sarcastic sense of humor are some of her best attributes, and it is easy to get lost in conversation with her.

Due to limitations in mobility, it is preferred that the home have an available bedroom and bathroom on the first floor; should the bedroom be on the second floor, this woman would require hands-on assistance to access her bedroom as needed. It is important to note that this woman does smoke cigarettes but assumes responsibility around this and will do so outdoors in a designated area.

  • Access to clinicians for additional support
  • Training on home safety skills, medication management, and First Aid/CPR
  • Support of a nearby and loving family to help
